The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled the results of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking a significant milestone for over 1.9 million candidates who participated in the nationwide assessment.

JAMB's Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, announced the much-anticipated release of the UTME results during a press conference held at the board's headquarters in Bwari, on the outskirts of Abuja. The magnitude of participation was notable, with over 1.94 million candidates registering and sitting for the examination across 118 towns and over 700 centers throughout the country.

The examination, spanning from April 19th to April 29th, witnessed a total of 1,904,189 candidates actively taking the UTME over the course of six days. However, a fraction of registered candidates, amounting to 80,810, were notably absent from the examination halls.

Delving into the performance metrics, Registrar Ishaq Oloyede shed light on the distribution of scores among the candidates. Only a slim 0.4% of examinees achieved scores above 300, while a more substantial 24% secured scores of 200 and above out of a total possible score of 400.

In contrast, a significant majority, comprising 76% of candidates, attained scores below the 200 mark. This disparity in scores underscores the diverse range of abilities and preparedness levels among UTME participants.

It's worth noting that despite the dissemination of results, JAMB has reiterated its policy of withholding the identity of the highest-scoring candidate, a decision aimed at maintaining fairness and privacy within the examination process.
