COMING TO NIGERIA: EBAY TO ARRIVE NIGERIA THIS MONTH

I remember going to check out used game console on ebay in the mid-nineties. All my efforts then was in futility because I can’t ship my products to Nigeria after purchase. Fast forward to 2016 and  eBay is reportedly coming to Nigeria and two African Countries – Kenya and Ghana – thanks to a new partnership with MallforAfrica.

The partnership will enable inventory from US sellers to be bought by MallforAfrica.com shoppers in Nigeria and Kenya.

According to the MallforAfrica’s CEO, Chris Folayan
“We are creating a unique ‘eBay Powered by MallforAfrica’ app to run on all our platforms. When buyers in Africa shop with this app, they’ll be able to shop on eBay, buy what they want, check out, and pay through MallforAfrica.”

According to reports, the service will start in Nigeria in the month of July, and then roll out to Kenya later in the year and finally, the service will be launched in Ghana.

Immediately after the launch, you will be able to purchase goods from eBay using your local currencies through MallforAfrica and in return, MallforAfrica with handle the shipping and delivery of goods to your address. They will also ensure the money goes back to the vendor in dollars.

This good news shows that Nigeria and Africa are indeed the place that most west countries are look towards for the expansion of their businesses.

Two things I will watch out for are the exchange rate and the service charge by MallforAfrica. This might significantly increase the prices of goods available for purchase.
