In a recent announcement shared via its official X handle, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) unveiled a new mobile application designed to facilitate seamless changes to inaccurately registered information, including names, dates of birth, and phone numbers associated with the National Identification Number (NIN).

The introduction of this mobile app, along with an online platform, offers users a convenient avenue to sign up for the service. Upon registration, users are prompted to input their NIN, last name, and email address to access the data modification feature.

Initially, NIMC did not specify any fees for data modifications. However, following user complaints about technical issues with the mobile app, the commission later announced varying fees for different self-service options to modify data linked to the NIN.

For individuals looking to correct personal data on the NIMC App, the following fees apply:

- N1,522.5 for Name Correction
- N16,340 for Date of Birth Correction
- N1,522.5 for Address Correction
- N1,522.5 for Email Correction

With these updates, NIMC aims to streamline the process of updating and correcting NIN-related information, offering users greater convenience and efficiency in managing their identity records.
