MULTICHOICE GET ORDER TO IMPLEMENT SUBSCRIPTION PAUSE AND FREE LOCAL STATIONS
A federal
government agency known as Federal Competition and Consumer Protection
Commission (FCCPC) has notified Multichoice to begin compensation moves for
disruption of services resulting from failed, faulty, poor, or unprofessional
installation by its agents.
Federal
Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and Multichoice had been on a yearlong legal
issue dated July 2018, this was when MultiChoice Nigeria announced the upward
review of the monthly subscription rates for its cable television systems, DSTV
and GoTV, with effect from August 1, 2018.
The
commission in a letter has now given another order to the South African-owned
firm to provide subscribers the option of periodically suspending subscription
no less than three times yearly for up to 14 days in each instance.
Apart from
the grace to pause your subscription, the Commission also requested that
MultiChoice must ensure that all subscribers have free access to the selected
local free-to-air channels.
When fully
implemented, this will bring a lot of relief to DSTV and GOTV subscribers
across Nigeria.
